RENEE FLAGLER WILL OFFER
SELF-PUBLISHING ADVICE AT BOOK EXPO AMERICA
RENEE FLAGLER SLATED FOR
"SELF-PUBLISHING CONNECTIONS," A BLACK ISSUES BOOK REVIEW EVENT AT BOOK EXPO
AMERICA, JUNE 4, 2005, 2-3 P.M.
(New York, NY - June 2, 2005)
Author Renee Flagler will offer self-publishing advice as part of an information
session, "Self-Publishing Connections," hosted by Black Issues Book Review
during Book Expo America 2005. The event will take place at the Black Issues
Book Review Booth (#1227) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York
City on June 4, 2005 from 2-3 p.m.
Through her company, Aspicomm
Media, Flagler self-published her debut novel, Mountain High, Valley Low, a
suspenseful and humorous tale about discovering love in the midst of chaos.
Participants will have an opportunity to gain insight from her personal
experiences in selecting a support team, including editors, designers, printers
and distributors, acquiring ISBN numbers and navigating the other intricacies of
the self-publishing process.
"It will be an opportunity
for those interested in self-publishing to meet with people who are connected to
the self-publishing industry and to learn from them," said Lesleigh
Irish-Underwood, marketing director of Black Issues Book Review. "We will
feature four publishing professionals with editorial, production and public
relations experience to answer questions and concerns."
In addition to offering
advice, Flagler will also promote "The Self-Publishing Symposium: Strategies for
Success," a full-day seminar for authors, independent publishers, small press
owners and others interested in the self-publishing industry. Aspicomm Media and
C&B Books Distribution will present the symposium on Saturday, October 22, 2005,
8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Hofstra University's Student Center. "The workshops are
designed to educate attendees in very important areas of business in an effort
to help them operate, manage and maintain their businesses more effectively,"
Flagler said.
Black Issues Book Review is
the official media sponsor of the symposium. "If you get any information that
was of use [at the Book Expo event], then come in October---we've got much more
for you," Irish-Underwood said.
